My name is Debbie Johnson and I am the Critter Nanny! Please take a moment to learn about why I do pet sitting. My sincere love of animals led me to be a pet sitter - something I truly enjoy doing.
I live in Orcutt, CA and my "children" at home now consist of Jill and Jazzy (Parson Russell Terriers), Teddy and Talley (Brittany Spaniels), 3 cats, many pet chickens and an aviary full of beautiful finches and canaries.
I was raised on a farm in Southern Georgia and learned from a very young age how important animals are in our lives. My grandparents taught me all about life on a farm and the love of animals! I have a degree in Kennel Management and Canine Behavior. I have loved and cared for animals all my life. As an adult I designed, owned and managed a kennel by the name of Azalea Park Farms. Shortly after that I became a professional breeder and handler of AKC Bernese Mountain Dogs, Dobermans and Golden Retrievers. One of my champion Bernese Mountain Dogs was invited to the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show. Another one of my puppies was chosen to be on the bags of Alpo Dog Food. I have also been a Veterinarian Assistant and assisted in surgeries as well as daily care. More recently, I have bred American Pit Bulls, Dachshunds and Rat Terriers.Aside from dogs, I have owned several horses and was even a barrel racer for the Florida National Circuit when I was young. Eleven years ago I got two baby goats that I treated like family members until sadly they both passed away. I also have a special place in my heart for birds, both mine and wild birds. As you can see in the picture here, they seem to like me too! This was a wild bird that landed on my finger.

Aside from pet sitting and enjoying my own pets, I have served on the Board of Directors for the Santa Maria Valley Humane Society and the Boys and Girls Club. I support the American Humane Society as well as Best Friends Animal Society. My husband and I are very active in supporting the local YMCA, the Rotary Club and many other local organizations.
Anyone that knows me well, knows that animals are my heart. My husband and I have traveled all over the world and my main concern has always been finding someone to care for my animals when I was not around. I understand the need for reliable, loving in-home (or barn) care for all your pets. I provide the best care possible for all of your pets when you are away from home so you and your pets don't have the additional stress related to boarding. Your pets will not just be checked on and fed but will get love and attention as well. My pets are treated like family members...your pets will be treated like extended family.
If you own a pet of any kind and have to be go out of town for work, are planning a vacation, get stuck in a late meeting or get called out of town for a family emergency...call me to care for them so you don't have to worry about them.
